This marks the initial shipment serving European customers through Innovation Fuels Europe, a joint venture between Innovation Fuels and Arpadis Group. Download the letter in French! 24/April/2008: Article on "Dow Jones Private Equity wire" - Innovation Fuels Launches European Arm With Arpadis - by JONATHAN SHIEBER New York-based biodiesel company Innovation Fuels Inc. has signed an agreement to establish a joint venture company with the Arpadis Group SA, to distribute renewable fuels throughout Europe. According to an interview with Chief Executive Officer John Fox, Innovation Fuels has the capacity to produce about 40 million gallons of biodiesel per year. The Arpadis Group is a holding company focused on chemical distribution and custom processing and is a European distributor of biodiesel and glycerin, according to a statement from the company. Arpadis acts as an intermediary in the distribution of chemical products between producers, processors, and end consumers. Backed by a $15.5 million capital commitment from Credit Suisse Customized Fund Investment Group, RNK Capital, and Lyrical Partners, Innovation Fuels owns a 950,000 barrel biodiesel refinery in New York Harbor and recently acquired North American Biodiesel. Proceeds from the financing were used for the acquisition and for working capital, according to Fox. 02/April/2008: Article in "Biodiesel Magazine" - Innovation Fuels teams with European distributor Some biodiesel producers facing tough times in the United States markets are turning to the European market in order to stay alive. New York-based Innovation Fuels announced it has teamed up with European distributor, Arpadis Group, to market its fuel to European consumers to keep its operation in business. The company cited increased European Union biodiesel usage and the weakened U.S. dollar as reasons for a strong U.S. biodiesel market in Europe. Innovation’s Chief Marketing Officer Bob Lindebaum agreed that the current state of the U.S. biodiesel market was one of the motivators for Innovation to begin marketing to Europe. “The biodiesel market in the U.S. pretty much hasn’t been developed yet,” he said. Innovation and Arpadis plan to launch a joint venture company, Innovation Fuels Europe, to market and distribute Innovation Fuels’ biodiesel into the European market. Innovation runs a 40 MMgy, multi-feedstock, BQ-9000 accredited facility on the New Jersey side of New York Harbor. Lindebaum said the plant is currently operating on a per-order basis for its customers on the East Coast, but he expects production to increase to 70 percent of capacity by the end of the year. Most of that biodiesel will be shipped to Europe, with the first order expected to ship in June, Lindebaum said. Lindebaum said the joint venture company was created to service the European market directly. “We wanted to have our own identity in Europe and basically just deal between the producer and the end-user,” he said. By cutting out brokers and traders, Innovation will be able to offer its biodiesel at a lower cost to consumers, he added. Innovation recently acquired North American Biodiesel in Milwaukee, Wisc. According to Lindebaum, the facility, which should be completed in February 2009, will be capable of producing 40 MMgy. The plant’s location at the Port of Milwaukee will provide Innovation with direct, deep-water international access via Lake Michigan. Until the Wisconsin facility is complete, orders will be shipped from New York Harbor to Europe. Arpadis, a Belgium-based holding company, is a major European distributor of biodiesel and glycerin. Formerly owned by Catry, the site along with the existing production facilities will be developed into a multi-customer services platform under the Arpadis Custom Processing structure. Arpadis Gondecourt as it will be known will benefit from new investments in order to extend the services of warehousing, bulk storage, grinding, mixing and filling. Arpadis Custom Processing has since 2003 been engaged in production and distribution at Jodoigne, more recently at Manage and with Gondecourt now added to the group Arpadis can offer more than 40000m² of space for value added liquids, powders, resins, inks, and pastes supplying major companies in coatings, steel, adhesives and automotive sectors. Arpadis Group is a dynamic and highly motivated company with further expansion planned in China, where 19000m² of land has been acquired within the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park to enlarge our service capabilities in the Far East.
